Royston Crow 24: Volunteers ready to launch Royston repair cafe

Royston Freecycle group will launch the café as it celebrates its 10th year of keeping old items in use in the town.

Volunteer repairers will be helping people to mend broken items at a free event at The Meridian School, in Garden Walk, on Sunday, February 9.

Anyone with something that needs mending – bikes, toys, clothes, tools, small items of furniture, electrical equipment including IT hardware – can bring their item to Meridian School between 10am-3pm.

The broken item will be assessed and, if it can be mended immediately, the owner will be shown how to do it. If the repair is more major, organisers will refer people to local professional repairers.

My name is Ben Harrison, I am a 22 year old Worcestershire based Landscaper, offering design and build services. I produce detailed designs to suit style, build cost and material preferences. I have a keen interest in upcyling existing materials and products; helping me create unique spaces in unlikely locations.

The Inside-out Freecycle Kitchen Garden

This garden will be designed making use of Freecycle and all other freely available recycled items that you would typically see in your kitchen. Sinks have become planters, tea cups and jars grow herbs and kitchen cabinets frame cleverly grown vegetables.

Santa Fe College: Freecycle Donation Day April 22

Celebrate Earth Day from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday, April 22 in the Oak Grove by participating in Freecycle. This is a community effort designed to keep useful items out of the trash by giving said items away to be put to good use. Freecycle @ SF welcomes the donation of small personal items in good condition including clothing, shoes, accessories, housewares, linens, craft supplies and home décor items. Items remaining at the end of the day will be donated to The Repurpose Project located in downtown Gainesville or Saints Shareware located in HA-130.

This event is sponsored by the Office of Civic Engagement & Service and open to the public.

Waste Management World: Gifts are a Plenty at ‘Freecycle’

The U.S. Army issued the following news:

It’s called a “gift economy” and by all accounts, it’s a win-win situation. The idea is simple: Drop off used items you no longer need or desire, (appliances, electronics and clothes, etc.) and search though an array of replaceable gifts. No money is exchanged, and no usable items will crowd an already overflowing landfill. One man’s trash freely becomes another man’s treasure.

“Freecycle” facilities are popping up all over the U.S., and beginning Earth Day, Grafenwoehr will reap the benefits of this display of community giving. The Grafenwoehr Freecycle, located in Building 441, will host its grand opening April 22, from 10 a.m.-noon. Building 441 is right next to the Grafenwoehr Car Care Center, across the street from the baseball fields near Gate 6.

Missouri S&T News and Research: No Impact Week aims to have a large impact on S&T

Monday, April 15: Consumption, trash and recycling
– No Impact Freecycle Extravaganza, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the atrium of the Havener Center. The freecycle is a no-money “yardsale.” The public is welcome to donate any household items they no longer use and take home any donated items they find interesting. No cash changes hands and leftover items will be donated to a local resale shop.

Running from 10am to 2pm at the church on the corner of Sheep Street and Bell Lane, the event is being hosted by Grassroots Bicester and Cherwell District Council.

Harbor Light: Give the gift of reading

Give the gift of reading this holiday season, by donating gently used books to Great Start’s Freecycle Book Bins. The project, which allows families to take home free books from community locations, has been so successful that the need for additional books continues to grow.

Leadership Little Traverse’s class of 2013 took on the Freecycle Book Bins, started by the Great Start Collaborative and Great Start Parent Coalition, as its service learning project. The group is currently seeking used or new books, ranging from infant board books to chapter books. Drop off locations include the Harbor Springs Library, Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, Big Apple Bagels, Petoskey Library, and Petoskey Area Chamber of Commerce by December 21.

Harvard Crimson: FreeCycle Encourages Reuse

Hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and other members of the Cambridge community flocked to the Science Center on Friday to drop off their unwanted items in exchange for the latest finds at Harvard’s FreeCycle.

The free give-and-take event, hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Green Program and the Facilities Maintenance Operations Recycling & Solid Waste Removal group, is held every three to four months on campus.

“They’re our way of making sure that good items don’t go to the trash,” said Brandon P. Geller, senior coordinator of the FAS Green Program.

The Barrie Advance: ‘Freecycle’ event will have loads of free stuff

MIDLAND – Local residents will have a chance to save items from going to the landfill while picking up useful – and free – stuff next weekend.
Georgian College’s Robbert Hartog Midland campus will host the third Freecycle Trunk Exchange on May 12 from 9-11 a.m.
The event is like a giant garage sale, but all items are free. No money, no trades and no bartering.
A similar event in October of last year saw more than 200 people contribute furniture, toys, home décor items and more.
Freecycle is a non-profit organization with a mission to reduce waste, save precious resources, and ease the burden on landfills. For more information, visit www.freecycle.org.
