Happy 23rd Birthday to us / The Freecycle Network! 🙂
On May 1st, 2003 I sent out the first email to about thirty friends and a handful of nonprofits announcing a new Yahoo Group called “Freecycle” for folks to give used stuff away, in Tucson.
May Day is, of course, a day of empowerment so perhaps we are channeling that good energy: spring, the May pole and rebirth and all that… and, hey, ok, another free cycle of giving… 😉
Thanks for making this wonderful mission possible with your local gifting. I find that small acts of kindness are one of the best ways to tap into the universe and change the world for the better. All those acts together add up to about a thousand tons a day being kept out of landfills thru re-use (that’s the equivalent of one less landfill on the planet which is kind of nice).
Happy Day! What better time to spring clean and post another item on Freecycle.org?? 😉
