3. Use paint in creative ways
When working with a tight budget, it’s a good idea to colour match designer paints. You can often find the tester pots on Gumtree or Freecycle.
You don’t even have to paint an entire room to make a drastic change, especially as this can be quite a big job.

Before heading to the shops to buy a bike or paddling pool, search the website Freecycle (freecycle.org.uk).
Enter your local area and see what is up for grabs. Try Facebook Marketplace, too.
The authority yesterday put out a statement urging residents to try and cut down on the waste they leave to be collected.
They have been asked to consider taking items to charity shops, furniture recycling warehouses or to “post them on internet sites such as Freecycle or Gumtree.”
With no in-person event this year the planning committee has put together resources to allow residents to get involved with waste reduction in the community.

According to Deron Beal, founder and director of the 9 million-member Freecycle Network, which helps local communities set up free exchanges around the globe, people are itching to tap into the free economy — some because they are in need, others because they know their luck and can give.
Since the pandemic hit, Freecycle has grown at two or three times its normal rate, Beal said, with 10,000 new members joining per week.
